Philippine Amateur Baseball Association (PABA) Regional Director Joaquin “Boy” Sarabia was elected as the first president of the Davao City Baseball Association.
DCBA was formally formed to help in the development of the sport in the city, a move initiated by the Datu Uchida Development Foundation (DUDF).

DUDF Sports Coordinator Yusuke Uchida was elected Vice-President who agreed to have DCBA affiliated with PABA.The affiliation, said Sarabia, will soon be worked out to give Davao City a strong representation in the PABA.Aside from working on local baseball development, DCBA will coordinate with the plans and programs of PABA.
The creation of DCBA will also give representation to all baseball stakeholders in Davao, said Sarabia.
“We will concentrate in Davao City first. After that, we soon hope to become stronger and link with other baseball groups in the region,” said Sarabia, who is also Sports Director of the University of Mindanao that produced outstanding baseball players like Ruel Batuto and Edmer del Socorro, both members of the national team who formed part also of the squad that won a gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games held in Manila.
