Edmer del Socorro is getting ready to be trained in Japan.
Del Socorro was member of the national baseball team along with fellow DavaoeƱo Ruel Batuto that won a silver medal in the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand last year.
The former University of Mindanao standout received an invitation from Konefumi Itakura of Japan Baseball to receive new training.
On Thursday's Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) at the Tower Inn, del Socorro and Batuto presented the silver medals they won in Thailand.
Batuto said that they are very happy to bring honor to Davao City and to their former school UM under coach Joaquin "Boy" Sarabia.
Batuto said that the national baseball team is still awaiting an invitation to play in Palau.
Luvelyn Maganda, member of the softball team that won a gold in the Thailand SEA Games, also presented her gold medal at the Genesis 88 Advertising and Tower Inn-backed DSA Forum.
Maganda, also from UM, played for the first time for the country and helped in beating Singapore, 12-1 in the finals.
She said that the training and the regular games with their male counterparts helped them a lot in winning the gold medal.
Maganda said she hopes that she will see action again for the country in July in Canada.
